If you're not in range of a Wi-Fi network, you can still get on the Internet with an iPad, iPod touch, or a computer by setting up a Personal Hotspot. A Personal Hotspot lets you share the cellular data connection of your iPhone or iPad.
Follow these steps to set up your Personal Hotspot:
Tap Settings > Personal Hotspot
There is a Wi-Fi Password - If you want to change this, do so by clicking on it PRIOR to turning on the personal hotspot.
Tap Personal Hotspot and then turn it on.
Make sure that your carrier uses Personal Hotspot with your plan. Optus users may need to ring to have this activated
On the device you wish to connect to Wi-Fi, search for the name of your device eg: Chris iPhone
Click on the personal hotspot name (eg: Chris iPhone) and put in the required password. You will be then connected to the internet.
